Care should be taken when handling potassium sulfate as it can cause skin and eye irritation. It also has a tendency to produce dust that, when inhaled, can cause respiratory tract inflammation. Proper eye wear as well as gloves and a face mask should be worn when working with potassium sulfate. Ingestion of potassium sulfate can cause gastrointestinal irritation and prolonged exposure can lead to potassium poisoning. When storing potassium sulfate, one should keep it away from strong oxidizing agents as well and magnesium, sodium, aluminum and calcium.
